Project: UK Environmental Governance Post-Brexit: What Will Happen to Waste?

Outline: The project outlined three scenarios for the future environmental governance of wastes and resources in the UK in the light of Brexit and the EU’s proposed Circular Economy package.

Role: I arranged and analysed interviews with sixteen leading stakeholders, organised a workshop event, an industry focus group in Westminster and a mini-conference in Cardiff, and contributed to to key publications.

Outputs:
2017 - I was a co-author on the project report investigating the political economy of waste management.
2020 - I was a co-author on a peer-reviewed publication in Political Geography showing the importance of the likely spatial and multi-level differences in impact that Brexit and EU legislation will have on environmental governance.
